Own a piece of history with this Authentic Pure Gold Bearing Quartz Nugget which was found in Atlin, British Columbia Canada – 50 miles from Skagway Alaska where miners of the 1898 Klondike gold rush traveled through to reach the gold fields. The pure 24k Gold Nugget is three dimensional (not flat) and weighs 1.5g minimum up to 3 grams.

Gold was discovered there by local miners on August 16, 1896, and, when news reached Seattle and San Francisco the following year, it triggered a stampede of prospectors. Each of them was required to bring a year’s supply of food by the Canadian authorities in order to prevent starvation. In all, their equipment weighed close to a ton, which for most had to be carried in stages by themselves. Together with mountainous terrain and cold climate, this meant that those who persisted did not arrive until summer 1898. Of the 100,000 who attempted the journey in hopes of finding riches, only 30,000 reached their destination – Of those, some became extremely wealthy – And the majority did not (They were lucky to make it out with their lives.)

The gold was formed in quartz deposits such as this, and only if/when erosion took place, veins of gold would break out into the rivers and form individual gold nuggets or gold flake. The gold still left in the quartz is now referred to as ‘gold bearing quartz’, or ‘gold lode’ by ol’time prospectors.
