Best Of Egypt Xlâ Ancient Egyptian Authentic Blue Faience Winged Goddess Isis Amulet Museum Display

This custom museum display showcases an absolute masterpiece, an Authentic XL Blue Faience Winged Goddess Isis in three parts dating from the Ptolemaic Period 332–30 B.C.

Pierced for attachment, this amulet comprises two finely and beautifully detailed feathered wings on either side of an intricately carved body. Nets made of faience beadwork became a luxury fashionable feature of mummy wrappings in the Late Period. Faience amulets formed part of the beadwork pattern and served to protect the mummy through their magical properties. This is one of the finer examples of such amulets.

Shown kneeling on a mat, was finely carved depicting a female in human form with tripartite wig and wearing her original headdress, an empty throne – Isis was refereed to in The Book of The Dead as “She who gives birth to heaven and earth, knows the orphan, knows the widow, seeks justice for the poor, and shelter for the weak”- the Egyptian goddess, was very popular throughout Egypt, and beyond and – she became was a goddess of almost limitless attributes!

She was one of the goddesses who protected the sarcophagus and the Canopic jars (which contained the internal organs). It was thought that she helped the deceased on their difficult journey into the afterlife and she was sometimes named as one of the judges of the dead. The face is beautifully defined with incised mouth, large almond shaped eyes and faint ears.
