This custom museum display showcases an Authentic Faience statue of Nekhbet – the patron of Upper Egypt (one of the two patron deities for all of Ancient Egypt when it was unified) dating Ptolemaic Period 332–30 B.C.

This ancient Egyptian tomb statue features a beautiful Nekhbet statue depicted here as a human with a Vulture head, with a long tripartite wig and pleated kilt. The face is rendered in nice detail with eyes, beak and mouth in relief. It also has shallow pierced dorsal pillar at back.

Nekhbet was a tutelary deity (or spirit who is a guardian) she and her counterpart Wadjet often appeared together as the “Two Ladies”.
Nekhbet was depicted as a vulture, used in divine iconography. In New Kingdom times, the vulture appeared alongside the uraeus (upright form of an Egyptian cobra used as a symbol of sovereignty, royalty, deity and divine authority in ancient Egypt on the headdresses with which kings were buried.) The uraeus and vulture are traditionally interpreted as Wadjet and Nekhbet, representing Isis and Nephthys, two major funerary goddesses.
